Labský most, Road bridge in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic.
Labský most is a road bridge spanning the Elbe River in Hradec Králové, built from reinforced concrete as a three-span structure. The bridge carries vehicles and pedestrians across the river with separate traffic lanes divided by a central barrier.
The bridge opened in 1974 as part of the city's outer road circuit to improve traffic flow. It was designed to connect different districts on both sides of the river and handle increasing urban transportation needs.
Engineer Jiří Hejnic designed the three-span prestressed concrete structure while architect Jiří Trnka integrated it into the surrounding urban landscape of Hradec Králové.
The bridge is designed for through traffic with clearly marked lanes and a safe pedestrian path on each side. It is best explored during daylight hours when you can clearly see the river and the surrounding cityscape.
The structure stands on 96 angled piles arranged in a regular grid, with 48 piles on each riverbank, ensuring stability in the specific geological conditions.
