Lávka u Aldisu, Footbridge in Hradec Králové, Czech Republic.
Lávka u Aldisu is a pedestrian footbridge spanning 102 meters across the Elbe River, linking Škroupova Street with Collinova Street in the heart of the city. The structure measures 4.5 meters wide and was specifically designed to accommodate both foot traffic and cyclists without motorized vehicles.
The bridge was designed following an architectural competition in 2013, with the project created by architects Libor Kábrt, Gabriela Elichová, and Martin Elich. Construction began in September 2021 and the bridge opened to the public in March 2023.
The bridge design resulted from an architectural competition in 2013 where 33 teams participated, with architects Libor Kábrt, Gabriela Elichová, and Martin Elich creating the selected project.
The bridge offers easy access from the city center to the left bank of the Elbe River for pedestrians and cyclists of all abilities. Visitors should note that the structure is designed exclusively for non-motorized travel and can become slippery during wet weather conditions.
The structure employs steel cables and ribbed concrete construction methods that create a lighter design with extended durability. This technique significantly improves the bridge's lifespan while enabling a visually slender appearance without compromising stability.
