Church of Saint Procopius in Stodůlky, Roman Catholic parish church in Stodůlky, Prague, Czech Republic

The Church of Saint Procopius in Stodůlky is a blue-rendered, elliptical church built in 1999–2001 as part of the Saint Procopius Community Centre on the east side of Sluneční náměstí. Architect Zdeněk Jiran designed the oval nave without a clear centre or beginning to express the rational incomprehensibility and infinite validity of the ideas for which people gather there. The church axis points toward the tower on Sluneční náměstí. Inside are the Chapel of Saint Procopius seating one hundred and a multipurpose hall, linked and separated by sliding partitions.

The foundation stone was blessed by Pope John Paul II during his Prague visit in 1999, and the building was completed two years later. This church emerged when Prague needed new spaces for religious expression following major political changes.

The church is dedicated to Saint Procopius of Sázava, continuing the patronage of a pilgrimage chapel that stood above the Prokopské údolí from 1711 until it was demolished in 1966. Since 1 January 2017 it has also served as the parish church for the deaf. The elliptical nave, without a clear centre or beginning, was intended by its architects to express the rational incomprehensibility and infinite validity of the ideas for which people gather here.

The church and community centre stand at V Hůrkách 1292/8, on the eastern side of Sluneční náměstí in Nové Butovice, Prague 13. The nave axis points toward the tower on the square, which helps with orientation. The chapel seats one hundred; sliding partitions connect or separate it from the multipurpose hall, and a separate hall with gallery occupies the upper floor.

The church is also the parish church for the deaf since 1 January 2017, and its dedication to Saint Procopius of Sázava links it to a pilgrimage chapel that stood above the Prokopské údolí valley from 1711 until it was demolished with explosives in 1966.
