Zdymadlo Rohatec

Zdymadlo Rohatec is a lock and weir structure on the Baťa Canal between Czech Republic and Slovakia. The facility controls water flow through a weir and a lock chamber that allows boats to navigate between different water levels on the canal.

The weir opened in 1938 when the Baťa Canal began operations for water management in the region. The lock chamber was expanded later to extend the waterway toward Hodonín port for improved navigation.

The structure represents a connection point between Czech Republic and Slovakia, featuring a footbridge that allows pedestrians and cyclists to cross between both nations.

The site is best viewed from the bridge connecting Czech Republic and Slovakia, which is open to pedestrians and cyclists. Visit outside of flood season to see regular lock operations and the water management system in full function.

Expansion work on the lock chamber began in 2023, showing the ongoing importance of this waterway for regional connectivity. The project will increase capacity and create better connections to Hodonín port.
