Vápenka Řeporyje, vápenka v Řeporyjích
Vápenka Řeporyje is a decommissioned lime kiln facility located in the Praha-Řeporyje area that shows signs of decay and abandonment. The site contains remnants of industrial structures including old furnaces, stone walls, railway beds, and scattered equipment partially covered by vegetation.
The lime kiln was founded in 1895 by operators Biskup, Kvis and Kotrba to supply lime for nearby sugar factories. The facility expanded with larger furnaces and rail networks throughout the early 20th century but gradually declined after World War II and was severely damaged by fire in 2000.
The lime kiln was once a vital workplace where local residents earned their living through quarrying and processing stone. Today, the remnants of buildings and walls serve as a reminder of the labor and economic importance this place held for the surrounding community.
The site is open to the public but visitors should watch for deteriorated structures and uneven terrain throughout the grounds. Wear appropriate footwear and avoid unstable areas since this is an abandoned industrial facility with potential hazards.
The kiln served as a filming location for scenes in the 2000 Czech musical film Rebelové, giving the abandoned site unexpected cultural significance. Parts of the film were shot inside the buildings and around the grounds, maintaining interest from film enthusiasts to this day.
