Kamenný květ, Stone sculpture in Liboc, Czech Republic
Kamenný květ is a stone sculpture located in the Liboc district at the intersection of Evropská and Vlastina streets. The work, crafted from trachyte, displays a modern abstract form with organic qualities that suggest a flower.
The sculpture was installed in 1971 when the former Lenin Street was being reconstructed and renamed as Evropská Street. This work was part of the broader urban development of the district during the early 1970s.
The piece is part of Prague's public art scene from the early 1970s. It shows how artists of that time tried to integrate sculptures into urban spaces and enrich the everyday surroundings for people walking by.
The sculpture stands on a grassy area near the Divoká Šárka bus stop, making it easy to locate. The setting allows for peaceful viewing without traffic obstruction and is accessible from multiple angles.
The final stone version was preceded by a smaller cement prototype measuring 40 centimeters, which served as a working model. This approach was typical for artists who tested their ideas in small scale before creating larger public works.
