迈尔观景亭, Wooden observation pavilion in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic
The Mayerův gloriet stands as an octagonal wooden structure situated on a rocky outcrop above the spa center of Karlovy Vary, offering views of the valley.
The observation pavilion was constructed in 1804 by Mayer, a merchant from Vienna who originated from Karlovy Vary, marking one of the first lookout points in the city.
The pavilion represents the early 19th-century tradition of creating observation points throughout Karlovy Vary for visitors to appreciate the surrounding landscape.
Visitors can reach the pavilion through forest paths and stone steps from the city center, or by taking the Diana cable car to Jelení skok station.
The wooden structure provides an observation point of the spa center and the Teplá River valley, positioned near the historical Petrova výšina landmark.
