Church of the Sacred Heart

The Church of the Sacred Heart in Kročehlavy is a Catholic place of worship with a rectangular floor plan and a flat roofline characteristic of its 1930s construction. The structure features a distinctive tower positioned on its front facade and displays clean, functional design typical of that period.

Engineer J. Novotný designed the structure and its foundation stone was laid in 1931, establishing it as an example of early modern religious architecture. Its construction coincided with a period when functional forms became more common in churches throughout the region.

The facade displays a sculptural relief of Christ created by local artist Jaroslav Volf, showing how artistic craftsmanship was valued in religious buildings of that era. This artwork remains one of the first things visitors notice when approaching the church.

The building sits near the intersection of Kročehlavská and Unhošťská streets and is easy to reach by public transportation. The Kladno, Školská bus stop provides direct access to the church and its grounds.

The church complex includes buildings belonging to the Notre Dame Order of Poor School Sisters and connected educational facilities that remain active today. This combination of worship space and learning facilities shows how religious institutions operated as community centers in that era.
