O₂ universum, Congress centre in Libeň, Prague, Czech Republic
O₂ universum is a four-storey congress and event centre on Českomoravská Street in Libeň, Prague, built alongside the O₂ arena. It holds 21 halls with a combined capacity of 10,000 visitors across roughly 50,000 m². Its largest hall seats 5,000 for concerts and sport; the second-largest, 12.5 m high with retractable stands, suits tennis, basketball, floorball and volleyball.
The site was reserved in 2000 for an ice-training hall planned alongside the O₂ Arena, but that project stalled and the unfinished structure was mothballed in 2004. Construction of the multifunctional centre began in October 2016 on those foundations, built by Metrostav and Syner to an ATIP design costing 1.4 billion Czech crowns. It opened in September 2019; the first event was a Kabát concert on 26 September 2019.
This venue serves the city as a gathering place for concerts, sports competitions, and major conferences throughout the year. The halls connect with the adjacent arena complex to create a large center for entertainment and business gatherings.
The venue is easily reached by public transportation and has generous parking areas right at the entrances. Visitors will find restaurants and cafes inside the building to use between or after events.
The special feature is its flexible design that allows connection with the adjacent arena to create space for tens of thousands of visitors at once. This linkage makes it one of the largest integrated complexes for mass events in the region.
