Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Soběšovice, Roman Catholic church in Soběšovice, Czech Republic

The Church of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Soběšovice is a Roman Catholic filial church built by local parishioners between 1957 and 1961, using material from the earlier church. It has roughly the same dimensions as its predecessor and was consecrated on 29 October 1961 by Msgr. František Onderka.

A wooden church stood in Soběšovice from early times, passing from the Soběšovice parish to Domaslavice after 1654; it was rebuilt in masonry in 1788–1789. Lightning struck its tower in July 1933 and the damage was repaired within two years. The site of that church is now under the Žermanice reservoir; the last service there was held on 28 October 1956. Parishioners built the present church themselves from 1957, using material from the old building and no state subsidy, and Msgre. Dr. František Onderka consecrated it on 29 October 1961.

The church is a filial church of the Roman Catholic parish of Domaslavice, to which Soběšovice has belonged since 1654. Local parishioners built the present church themselves in brigades from 16 April 1957, using material from the old church and without any state subsidy. It was consecrated on 29 October 1961 by Msgre. Dr. František Onderka.

The church is open to visitors year-round and holds regular services along with special ceremonies during major Catholic celebrations. Visitors should check service times beforehand, especially if they wish to attend a particular event.

The present church was built by local parishioners themselves in volunteer brigades from 1957, using material salvaged from the old church and without any state subsidy. It was consecrated on 29 October 1961 by Msgre. Dr. František Onderka.
