Těrlicko Reservoir, reservoir in the Czech Republic
Těrlicko Reservoir is a water storage facility on the Stonávka River in the Teschener Uplands. The basin was created in the 1960s by building a clay dam more than 600 meters (2,000 feet) long with a sealing core, serving water supply for regional industry and flood prevention.
The facility was built between the 1950s and 1960s and began operation in 1962. Part of the settlement of Těrlicko was flooded during construction, along with the road leading to Český Těšín.
The site is accessible year-round and features swimming beaches, walking paths, and cycling routes around the basin. Boat rentals, water skiing facilities, and dining and lodging options are available nearby.
In winter the water freezes over and attracts ice skaters who use the frozen surface. An educational trail along the shore tells visitors about the Stonávka River landscape and local plants and wildlife.
