Weißes Schloss

Weisses Schloss is a Renaissance château in Ostrov featuring symmetrical windows and ornate architectural details across its facade. The structure includes multiple rooms and exemplifies the formal design typical of aristocratic residences from that period.

Construction took place between 1673 and 1679 under architect Abraham Leuthner as part of a larger castle complex. The estate was built for Julius Heinrich of Sachsen-Lauenburg and has defined the town's appearance since then.

The interior wall paintings reflect the artistic taste that European nobility favored during the Renaissance. These decorations show what styles and motifs were fashionable in that era.

The site now houses an art gallery with multiple exhibition spaces where visitors can explore both the historical architecture and contemporary art collections. Allow enough time to experience both aspects without rushing through.

The White Gate, erected in 1690 for a noble wedding, displays the coats of arms of two prominent families and marks the entrance to the castle park. This gateway tells through its symbols the political connections of that era.
