Horní Lumbeho zahrada

Horní Lumbeho zahrada is a private garden in Prague's Hradčany district that slopes downward from Jelení Street toward Nový Svět. The grounds are managed by Prague Castle Administration and contain varied terrain with distinct upper and lower sections.

Surgeon Karel Lumbe purchased the land in 1852 and the property took his name. In 1925, the Office of the President acquired it from his heirs and incorporated it into the castle estate.

The garden functions as part of the castle grounds and contains a wooden summer theater where performances take place. This stage demonstrates how the space serves as a cultural gathering point.

The lower section includes a children's playground reachable from Nový Svět street. Visitors should expect varying elevation changes as the garden covers sloping terrain.

From Keplerova Street steps, visitors can see St. Vitus Cathedral's silhouette rising to the east, an unusual perspective that connects the garden to the broader castle area. This viewing point is often missed by those passing through.
