Watchtower Vodojem Bohumín, Water and observation tower in Nový Bohumín, Czech Republic
The Watchtower Vodojem Bohumín is a concrete observation and water tower standing 39 meters tall with eight levels in Nový Bohumín. A glass platform at 31 meters provides views over the town and surrounding landscape.
This structure was built in 1934 as a water storage facility serving the town's water needs for decades. Following renovation, it opened to visitors in 2006 with new roles as an observation point and lodging facility.
This structure demonstrates how industrial buildings can take on new roles and meanings for communities. Visitors today experience the tower as both a record of the past water system and a destination for enjoying views and hospitality.
Reaching the observation deck requires climbing 187 steps to the top. Clear weather offers the best visibility for seeing the town, power station, and distant mountains in all directions.
