Jimlíkov is an open-air quarry site featuring a water-filled basin left from kaolin extraction and natural sand banks. The water displays shades of gray-blue due to the mineral composition of the clay deposits.
The site operated as an active industrial kaolin extraction facility for decades, supplying local ceramic manufacturers with raw materials. After mining ceased, the flooded depression gradually became a recreational destination.
The site attracts visitors who swim and socialize during warm weather months, with sandy banks serving as informal gathering spots. Local people treat it as a natural meeting place for recreation and outdoor enjoyment.
Access is usually on foot via unpaved tracks from roadside parking spots. Bring swimming clothes and note that changing facilities and lifeguards are not available at the site.
Surrounding the main water basin are pools of liquid kaolin that create an unusual landscape, revealing the thickness of the original clay formations. These deposits offer a glimpse into the geological layers that were extracted over many years.
