Myslíkovské Lurdy, Cave chapel in Myslík, Czech Republic
Myslíkovské Lurdy is a cave chapel nestled within a natural rock formation above Myslík village, containing statues of the Virgin Mary and Saint Bernadette. The interior is modest and intimate, with simple altars carved into the stone.
The chapel was built in 1946 by Jan Bělunek as a thank offering for surviving the bombing of Ostrava during the war. Local pastor Stanislav Dubina supported the project and contributed to creating this place of worship.
The chapel serves as a pilgrimage destination where visitors come to pray and reflect near the statues inside the rock. It has become an important gathering place for the faithful since the return of religious freedom.
The path to the chapel begins from the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows in Myslík and climbs through forest trails with steep sections that require physical effort. The terrain is natural and trail conditions vary depending on the season.
A wooden bell tower sits atop the rock formation and is visible from outside, while stories passed down through generations tell of a hidden passage connecting to nearby Hukvaldy Castle. Local residents have kept these tales alive for decades.
