Rychaltické balvany, Limestone boulders in Hukvaldy, Czech Republic.
Rychaltické balvany consists of three substantial limestone boulders discovered during the reconstruction of road I/48 above the Rychaltice area. The formations display interesting geological features visible to visitors walking among them.
These limestone boulders date back to the Tithonian period when coral reefs covered the carbonate platform of the Baška elevation. They were later moved to their current position through geological processes.
The site has information boards that explain the geological processes moving these limestone formations to their current location. Visitors can learn here about the natural forces that shaped these rocks over time.
The boulders are accessible through a marked path near road I/48, where parking is available for visitors. Wearing sturdy footwear is advisable since the terrain can be uneven underfoot.
The stones contain rock formations from different geological periods, with lower Cretaceous rocks entering through deep fissures. This reveals how complex the geological history of the region truly is.
