Barnovská Reservoir, stuwmeer in Libavá, Tsjechië
Barnovska Reservoir is a large body of water in the VÚ Libavá area of the Czech Republic and among the biggest in its region. Dense forests and meadows surround it, creating gentle shorelines and wide water surfaces.
The reservoir was built over 100 years ago to improve navigation on the Oder River and was part of larger European water management plans. Over time the area came under military use and today serves mainly as a nature conservation zone.
The reservoir sits within a restricted military zone, making public access limited to special occasions and designated visiting days. This isolation has preserved the area as a quiet retreat where people can experience nature largely undisturbed by human activity.
The area is difficult to access since it lies within a military zone and opens to visitors only on special event days. Walking trails around the lake are flat and easy to navigate, but no major facilities are present so visitors should bring their own supplies.
An old reinforced concrete bridge from 1908 crosses the area and was the first of its kind in the region. Near it once stood a mill whose ruins still remain visible today, bearing witness to the former life in this place.
