Železná rozhledna

Železná rozhledna is an observation tower in Potštát made of steel that rises 37 meters high with multiple viewing platforms. Its steel framework provides stable access to different levels that offer views across the surrounding landscape.

The structure was built during the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic period as part of a military facility. Following the end of that era, it was converted into a public tourist destination.

The tower functions as a gathering spot where locals and visitors meet during regional festivals and celebrations throughout the year. It has become woven into the social fabric of the surrounding communities.

The tower is accessible by marked pathways, and refreshment facilities are located at its base for visiting comfort. Parking is available nearby, making access straightforward for most visitors.

From the observation platform, visitors can see the Šumava mountains and surrounding valleys stretching across multiple regional borders. This cross-border perspective reveals the geographical continuity of the landscape beyond administrative lines.
