Mlíkárna, Observation tower in Riegrovy sady, Czech Republic.
Mlíkárna is an observation tower in Riegrovy sady park consisting of a stone base with an external staircase leading to a rooftop observation platform. The structure provides views across Prague's historic center and castle from above.
The tower was built in the 1820s as part of the Vozová estate and originally served as a garden pavilion. In the early 20th century it was converted into a dairy shop, a use that lasted for decades.
The name Mlíkárna means dairy in Czech, reflecting its past as a shop serving milk and refreshments to park visitors until 1956. This everyday function remains part of how locals remember and refer to the place.
Visitors reach the observation platform by climbing 29 steps on the external staircase, which provides a short but worthwhile ascent. The climb rewards you with broad views over the city center and surrounding areas.
The structure blends late Classical architecture with modern restoration completed in 2009 that carefully preserved its original character. This work ensured the tower could continue serving its viewing function for contemporary visitors.
