Naučná stezka Hádecké lomy a okolí, Educational trail in Maloměřice, Czech Republic.
Naučná stezka Hádecké lomy a okolí is an approximately 2.5-kilometer circular trail through former limestone quarries on the southwestern slope of Hády hill. The route includes eight information stations that explain the geological features and current ecology of this post-mining landscape.
The area was originally exploited for limestone quarrying until the Czech Union for Nature Conservation protected it from construction in the 1990s. Environmental restoration efforts then transformed the former mining site into an educational path.
The trail's name reflects the quarries that once shaped this landscape and remain visible today as geological scars. Visitors can observe how local plants and animals have adapted to life in and around these excavated spaces.
Access is available by bus lines 78 and 82, which stop at Podbělová station, from where the starting point at U Hádecké planinky is a short walk. The terrain is walkable year-round, though wet areas can become slippery after rain.
A small farm with llamas and alpacas operates on the site, allowing visitors to encounter these animals during their walk. The presence of livestock demonstrates how the former quarry has become a living space for various species.
