Galesburg Historic District

The Galesburg Historic District is a historic district in Illinois with around 1,000 buildings spread across a large area, preserving the original town layout. It contains a county courthouse, a college, and residential streets that define the character of the place.

The area was founded in 1834 by Reverend George Washington Gale as a college town after settlers purchased extensive lands in the region. This established the foundation for the district's current structure and character.
