Harding Railroad Car

The Harding Railroad Car, designated X-336, is a preserved Pullman passenger car housed within Pioneer Park's historic collection. This car was purchased from the Great Northern Railroad and retains its original interior design.

In 1923, this car carried President Warren G. Harding and his delegation to Fairbanks to celebrate the completion of the railroad line between Fairbanks and Seward. The event marked a significant milestone in Alaska's development through rail transportation.

The car displays Pullman Palace Car Company design and represents luxury standards of early railroad travel. Visitors can see today how prominent travelers were accommodated during that era.

The car is located within Pioneer Park and is accessible to visitors exploring the historic railroad collection. It is best experienced by walking through the park and allowing time to view the various historical exhibits on display.

The car served as Pioneer Park's visitor center for a time while maintaining its authentic Pullman appearance. This dual function shows how historic rail cars were repurposed to serve the park's operations.
