Harper House, Historic residence in Four Oaks, North Carolina, US.

Harper House is a two-story, three-bay frame dwelling in the vernacular Greek Revival style, built about 1855 near Four Oaks in Johnston County. It stands on its original brick pier foundation, with a hipped roof, interior end chimneys and a two-story pedimented portico across the front facade.

Harper House was built about 1855 as a two-story, three-bay vernacular Greek Revival frame dwelling. During the Battle of Bentonville (March 19–21, 1865) it served as a Union field hospital. The state bought the property in 1957, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.

The house is named for the Harper family; six of the Harper children and two Harper grandchildren were living there during the March 1865 battle. Before state ownership the property passed through the Dunn family, then the Thorntons. Visitors touring the interior today see the rooms that sheltered the family while the fighting went on nearby.

The house stands beside the Bentonville Battlefield state historic site visitors center near Four Oaks, Johnston County, and tours of its interior are offered through that center. The building is part of the Bentonville Battleground State Historic Site.
