Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary

Oak Knoll is a wildlife sanctuary spanning about 75 acres with wooden trails and boardwalks winding through different habitats. The landscape includes red maple swamps, upland forests, freshwater marshes, and lake areas that visitors can explore from the network of paths.

The land started as a private property before being transformed into a protected natural area. Today it is managed by a local organization working to preserve the ecosystems and habitats within it.

The nature center on the property provides educational programs that engage visitors of all ages in learning about the local environment. These learning opportunities help people understand why swamps and forests matter to the wider ecosystem.

The trails are open to visitors from sunrise to sunset and allow easy access to the different habitats throughout the property. Sturdy shoes are recommended since the ground can be muddy and wet, especially in the marsh and swamp areas.

The sanctuary uses a thoughtful boardwalk system that brings visitors close to sensitive wetland areas without damaging them. This design lets people experience marshes and swamps up close while keeping the delicate environments protected.
