The Joker, Wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, California.
The Joker is a hybrid roller coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in California that stretches 3,200 feet and sends riders through three inversions at speeds of 53 miles per hour. The ride uses steel track on a wooden support structure and carries 24 riders per train in six cars with two rows of two seats each.
Rocky Mountain Construction transformed the former Roar roller coaster into The Joker in 2016 by placing steel track onto the existing wooden support structure. This conversion reused the foundation while creating a completely new riding experience with different elements and characteristics.
The design draws from the DC Comics character, using green and purple colors throughout the track and station area.
Access to this roller coaster is through the main park grounds, and visitors should expect longer waits during peak hours. It helps to visit early in the morning or during quieter times of day to avoid waiting in long lines.
This ride features a specialized step-up under-flip inverted roll element combined with a 78-degree curved drop. This rare combination of features creates riding moments found on few other roller coasters.
