Superman: Ultimate Flight, Steel roller coaster in Vallejo, United States
Superman: Ultimate Flight is a steel roller coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom that launches riders through a series of twists and inversions at high speed. The track design combines sharp turns with rolling maneuvers to create a fast-paced ride experience.
The ride opened in 2012 as a prototype model built by Premier Rides and was one of the first of its kind. This design became the foundation for similar launched coasters built at other parks.
The ride's Superman theme is visible in the red track and blue supports, and in the entrance sign reading "SUPERMAN" above "ULTIMATE FLIGHT" on a blue arrow, with a caped figure and red S-shield emblem beside it. John Williams' film score plays on a loop from speakers outside the entrance. It was the park's first ride based on a DC Comics character.
Riders must meet a minimum height requirement to board, and the coaster carries passengers in separate car sections. Loose items should be secured before boarding, and the queue area can get busy during peak park hours.
Superman: Ultimate Flight was the prototype of Premier Rides' Sky Rocket II model, later sold to other parks. Its non-inverting loop had previously appeared only on two of Maurer Söhne's X-Car coasters. The single two-car train seats six riders per car, and John Williams' score plays on a loop from speakers outside the entrance.
