Medusa, Steel roller coaster at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, California, US
The Medusa roller coaster extends over 3,937 feet of track, reaching speeds of 65 mph through seven inversions and a 150-foot vertical drop.
Opening in March 2000, Medusa marked a milestone as the first floorless roller coaster on the West Coast, constructed by Bolliger & Mabillard.
The roller coaster established a benchmark for theme park entertainment in Northern California, sharing the height record with The Flash and Superman rides.
Riders experience the course in eight-car trains arranged four across, allowing the attraction to accommodate 1,600 passengers each hour.
The design incorporates the first Sea Serpent roll element built on a Bolliger & Mabillard coaster, along with a 128-foot vertical loop.
