Greenlawn Cemetery, Historic cemetery in Salem, United States
Greenlawn Cemetery spans 100 acres at 57 Orne Street, featuring winding lanes, specimen plants, and two distinct ponds across undulating terrain.
Founded in 1807, the cemetery expanded in 1846 during the rural cemetery movement and received additional enhancements through WPA workers in the 1930s.
The cemetery contains the graves of Medal of Honor recipients John Phillip Riley and Thomas E Atkinson, along with Reverend Jacob Stroyer.
The grounds maintain strict regulations, including a 10 mph speed limit, leashed dogs on paved surfaces only, and specific hours from dawn to dusk.
The site holds between 150 and 200 different tree species, making it Massachusetts' second-largest collection after Boston's Arnold Arboretum.
