Architect A. James Speyer, a student of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, designed this residential structure in 1953 for textile artist Ben Rose.
This residence gained recognition in American cinema as the location of Cameron's father's garage in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
The property includes a separate pavilion, added in 1974 by David Haid, which functions as additional living space or guest accommodations.
In 2017, the owners created a concealed 15-foot underground space beneath the house for a garage, storage, and children's activities.
