Franny Reese State Park, State park in Highland, Ulster County, US
The 251-acre park extends along forested bluffs with 4.5 miles of trails offering views of the Hudson River and Mid-Hudson Bridge.
The land was formerly Cedar Glen estate, built by dental pioneer Charles Roberts in the mid-19th century before becoming a state park in 2009.
The park bears the name of Frances Reese, an environmental advocate who worked extensively to protect natural lands in the Hudson Valley region.
The park remains open from sunrise to sunset throughout the year, featuring hiking trails that transform into routes for cross-country skiing in winter.
Visitors can explore the ruins of a 19th-century mansion while walking along former carriage roads that wind through the wooded landscape.
