Missisquoi Valley Union Middle/High School, Public middle and high school in Highgate, Vermont, US.
Missisquoi Valley Union Middle/High School is a public school in Highgate, Vermont, serving students in grades 7 through 12. The campus has two main buildings and a large outdoor area with fields for soccer, softball, and baseball, as well as a running track.
The school opened in 1970 to bring together secondary education for the communities of Swanton, Highgate, and Franklin under one roof. It was created as part of the Missisquoi Valley School District, which was formed to serve several neighboring towns in northwestern Vermont.
Each year, students take part in Skit Nite, a competition where every grade writes and performs an original short play in front of a live audience. The event draws families from across the area and is one of the most anticipated nights of the school year.
The campus sits in a central part of Highgate and is most easily reached by car. Anyone wishing to enter the buildings or attend a school event should contact the school in advance.
The campus has a dedicated agricultural building where students care for animals as part of their regular schoolwork. This kind of hands-on farming program is not common at secondary schools, even in a rural state like Vermont.
