Pulaski County Courthouse, County courthouse in Little Rock, United States.
Pulaski County Courthouse is a county courthouse in Little Rock, Arkansas, with two distinct sections built decades apart. The original Romanesque structure from 1889 was expanded with a four-story Beaux-Arts addition in 1914.
The building began in 1887 under architect Max A. Orlopp, who designed the stone and brick Romanesque section. Architect George Mann later contributed a major Beaux-Arts expansion that gave the courthouse its complete form.
The building displays two different architectural styles side by side, each reflecting how government buildings were designed in their respective eras. Visitors can see how design preferences shifted between the original construction and the later addition.
The courthouse sits on West Markham Street in downtown Little Rock and is easy to reach on foot. A county park adjoins the western side of the block, providing space to rest and walk around the grounds.
The building spreads across roughly 1.5 acres, occupying an entire downtown block. The scale and rough stone of the older section give it a commanding presence among the surrounding modern structures.
