Pillsbury Point State Park

Pillsbury Point State Park is a small preserve on a peninsula jutting into West Okoboji Lake, featuring walkways and seating areas along the water. Stone structures line the shoreline, offering various points to stop and enjoy views of the lake.

This land was once privately owned before being converted to a public preserve in the 1930s. Workers from the Civilian Conservation Corps built the stone walkways, steps, and benches that still stand today.

The park holds strong ties to Native American history as the location of the Spirit Lake events of 1857, with a memorial nearby.

The park is small and compact, easy to explore and accessible to visitors of all activity levels. The stone pathways are well maintained and provide safe routes along the lake shore.

This small tract ranks among the earliest additions to Iowa's park system and carries significant historical weight despite its modest size. The preserved stonework demonstrates the craftsmanship quality of workers from that era.
