Veterans Memorial Stadium, multi-purpose sports stadium
Veterans Memorial Stadium is a 5,000-seat outdoor stadium in Quincy, Massachusetts, built from 1937 to 1938 under the Works Progress Administration. It stands on land in Merrymount Park that the Adams family gave to the city, replacing an earlier cinder track called Pfaffman's Oval. It is the home field for Quincy High School football and soccer and for the New England Free Jacks of Major League Rugby.
Built from 1937 to 1938 under the Works Progress Administration, the stadium opened on September 25, 1938, in a ceremony attended by Senator Henry Cabot Lodge. It replaced Pfaffman's Oval, a cinder track with a natural embankment, on land in Merrymount Park given to the city by the Adams family. Renovations in 2006 and 2018 added synthetic turf, chair-back seats and a video board.
The stadium sits within Merrymount Park, and its 2018 renovation replaced bleacher seats with chair-back seating and added a large electronic video board. The 2006 work made the field usable for lacrosse, rugby and soccer and improved accessibility. Events are irregular, so confirm the schedule before travelling.
