Cornerstone Church is a large house of worship in Nashville with multiple buildings on its campus. The complex features a main sanctuary for services along with a three-story education building that contains various rooms for different activities.
The church began in 1983 when 104 believers started meeting in a residential home. They later moved to a larger property where they built a stone tabernacle for their growing congregation.
The church's name comes from the stone tabernacle that stood on the 21-acre campground bought from Rev. Gene Jackson. Sister Mattie King, mother of co-founder Shirley Kidd, gave the first donation. Today women's and Primelife community care run counselling, health services and emergency accommodation, and a rock baptismal pool sits in the commons area.
The property is located on West Old Hickory Boulevard and is easily accessible by car with ample parking available for visitors. The church features dedicated spaces for children and families, so visitors coming with kids should know these facilities are available on-site.
The 21-acre site was bought from Assemblies of God district superintendent Gene Jackson and already held a small stone tabernacle used in its campground years. When fire destroyed the original church building, services moved into that stone tabernacle. A 2015 three-story expansion added Nashville's largest two-story indoor playground.
