Shelby Park

Shelby Park is an urban park in Nashville that spreads along the Cumberland River and covers about 361 acres of land. The space includes walking trails, sports fields, two golf courses, and other recreational facilities for various activities.

The Nashville Park Commission acquired land from a former amusement park in 1909 and established the foundation for this green space. This purchase marked the beginning of what would become a major public recreational area in the city.

The Stevens Center serves as a gathering place where the community hosts outdoor programs and nature education activities. Visitors can take part in regular classes and events that help them connect with the natural surroundings.

The park has multiple entry points, ample parking, and public restrooms accessible along well-maintained pathways. Visitors can come any time of year, though muddy or wet conditions are common after rain.

The park connects directly to the Shelby Bottoms nature area and Cornelia Fort Airpark, creating one continuous green corridor. This connection allows visitors to explore longer routes and experience a wider range of natural habitats without interruption.
