Schermerhorn Symphony Center, Greek Revival concert hall in downtown Nashville, US
Schermerhorn Symphony Center is a Greek Revival concert hall located in downtown Nashville. The main building surrounds a performance hall with columns and a vaulted ceiling that echoes classical temples.
The center opened in 2006 in honor of Kenneth Schermerhorn, who led the Nashville Symphony Orchestra for two decades. He passed away the year before the building was completed.
The Laura Turner Concert Hall contains relief panels and decorative elements incorporating Tennessee state flowers, musical symbols, and local heritage references.
The main hall can be reconfigured for different event formats, with seating and floor arrangements adjusted as needed. Some concerts take place during the day, while evening performances make up most of the schedule.
Soundproof windows were installed above the stage to allow natural light during daytime performances. This technical solution lets the space feel open in daylight without compromising the acoustics.
