Grand Lodge of Tennessee, Masonic headquarters in Nashville, United States.
The Grand Lodge of Tennessee occupies a five-story neoclassical building at the intersection of Broadway and 7th Avenue in downtown Nashville. The structure serves as an administrative center for more than 33,000 Master Masons across the state and coordinates activities of local lodges.
The current building was completed in 1926 and replaced earlier Masonic halls, including the first Tennessee Masonic Hall from 1825 that burned in 1856. This succession reflects the organization's enduring importance to Nashville's civic life.
The building holds a theater, museum, and library where Masonic traditions are preserved through collections and portraits of former Tennessee leaders. Visitors can explore how the fraternity maintained its customs and identity through these spaces.
The building sits centrally on Broadway and is easy to reach on foot, with clear visibility from the street. Visitors should check in advance about interior tours or viewing opportunities, as access may vary depending on scheduled events.
During the Great Depression, the Grand Lodge acquired this building through foreclosure in 1937 for $150,000 from the Scottish Rite organization. This purchase reflects how economic hardship reshaped local institutions during that era.
