Sheraton Nashville Downtown, Brutalist hotel in downtown Nashville, United States
The Sheraton Nashville Downtown is a Brutalist hotel on Union Street in the heart of Nashville, Tennessee, rising 27 floors above the city center. Its exposed concrete facade and strong geometric forms make it one of the most visually distinctive buildings along the downtown skyline.
The building was completed in 1975, designed by John Mastin & Associates at a time when Brutalist concrete towers were being built across American downtowns. New ownership took over in 2012 and launched a major renovation that reshaped the interior while leaving the original concrete structure intact.
The building sits within easy walking distance of the honky-tonks and recording studios that define Nashville's musical identity, making it a natural landing point for music fans. Broadway, the city's main entertainment strip, is just a short walk away and stays active well into the night.
The hotel sits on Union Street in central Nashville, putting most of the downtown area within easy walking distance. Guests looking for conference rooms, dining, or fitness facilities will find them all on site without needing to leave the building.
The interior renovation that began in 2012 was led by designer Anna Busta, who paired contemporary materials with the existing raw concrete rather than covering it up. The result is one of the few Brutalist hotels in the American South where the original structure is still clearly readable from inside.
