Jean and Inez Bregant House, Historic bungalow residence in Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The Jean and Inez Bregant House is a 1½-story Craftsman dwelling with a rectangular frame structure, set at the back of its lot. It has a polygonal bay on the north side, a rectangular bay on the south, and a full-size bungaloid porch across the front. Inside are four rooms and a bath.

The house was built by Inez Bregant's parents, whose own home stood immediately to the south, after Jean and Inez retired from vaudeville. The couple were little people who had worked as performers. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2013.

The house is known as The Little Peoples' House, a name tied to its first owners, Vaudeville performers Jean and Inez Bregant. Because the couple loved to entertain, the four rooms, doorways and furnishings were sized for full-size guests, while scaled-down details such as low built-in benches served the residents.

The house sits at the back of its lot in Council Bluffs, with Inez's parents' former house immediately to the south. It is owned by Preserve Council Bluffs, which is restoring it to its original condition. Access is not public, so contact the organization before planning a visit.

The house stands out because it features custom details such as a miniature bathtub and a low-set fireplace mantel, both designed to match the stature of its residents. Such tailored living spaces are uncommon to find today and demonstrate an unusual approach to residential design.
