Avon Lake Public Library, Public library in Avon Lake, United States.
Avon Lake Public Library is a public library located in Avon Lake that provides access to books, digital materials, and educational resources for the community. The facility on Electric Boulevard houses a collection designed to serve readers of all ages and interests.
Avon Lake Public Library opened in 1931 in a farmhouse on the east side of Center Road. Construction of a new building on Electric Boulevard began in 1957, and the library reopened there on August 11, 1958. Expansions between 1980 and 1983 doubled its size, and work from 1990 to 1994 brought it to 55,000 square feet. A $700,000 renovation of the 1994 addition was completed in April 2015.
The library serves as a gathering place where families and children from the area connect and participate in group activities. These regular programs bring people together around stories and learning.
The facility is open Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 9 PM, with reduced hours on weekends. Visitors will find parking available and accessible entrances to explore the different sections.
Between January and August 2017, staff found 55 empty A1 Steak Sauce bottles in the adult fiction and non-fiction sections. No one has explained their origin or purpose. The library also lends turntables, cassette players and slide scanners.
