Malgium, Archaeological excavation site in Babylonia, Iraq
Tell Yassir, situated at the intersection of ancient Larsa, Babylon, and Elam territories, spans approximately 15 hectares of archaeological significance.
During the Middle Bronze Age between 2000-1600 BC, Malgium flourished until Hammurabi's forces destroyed its defensive walls during military campaigns.
The city contained multiple temples dedicated to deities including Ea at Enamtila, Damkina, Ulmašītum, Bēlet-ilī at Ekitusgestu, and Anum.
Archaeological research at Tell Yassir began in 2018, revealing numerous artifacts such as pottery fragments and inscribed bricks from various rulers.
The site forms part of Tulūl al-Fāj, where researchers discovered evidence confirming its identity through inscribed bricks mentioning King Ipiq-Ištar.
