Kubah National Park, National park in Sarawak, Malaysia
Kubah National Park is a roughly 2200-hectare protected forest in Sarawak with mixed tropical vegetation and three sandstone hills. A network of marked trails winds through the area, passing streams and connecting different landscape sections.
The park was established in 1989 to protect the palm forests and plant diversity of the region. This decision marked an important step in safeguarding Sarawak's natural resources.
The name comes from the Malay word for dome, fitting the rounded hill shapes you see throughout the landscape. Visitors experience how local communities value and interact with this natural space.
The visitor center offers different accommodation options, including forest lodges, hostels, and camping areas with varying comfort levels. Bring your own food since on-site dining options are limited.
The area is home to around 93 different palm species, making it one of the most concentrated centers of this plant diversity in Malaysia. This abundance of palms in a relatively small space draws the attention of botanists and nature researchers.
