Mount Korbu

Mount Korbu is the highest peak in Perak state and the second tallest mountain on Peninsular Malaysia, rising to 2,183 meters above sea level. The summit sits at the heart of forested terrain that requires multiple days to traverse.

The mountain forms part of the Tenasserim Hills, an ancient granite ridge that stretches over 1,700 kilometers from central Thailand through Peninsular Malaysia. This geological formation took millions of years to develop and continues to define the landscape.

The forests surrounding Mount Korbu are home to Orang Asli communities who have lived in this region for generations and maintain strong ties to the land. Their presence shapes how people experience and move through this environment today.

The climb requires permits from both the dam and forestry authorities, which should be arranged at least two weeks in advance before your planned ascent. Contact the relevant offices early to ensure you have all necessary documentation and authorizations.

Multiple water sources dot the trail, including Kem Seroja and Kem Kijang, which provide essential refreshment for hikers during the multi-day journey. These natural springs are strategically located to support travelers throughout their climb.
