Església de Santa Coloma d'Andorra, Pre-Romanesque church in Santa Coloma, Andorra.

The església de Santa Coloma d'Andorra is a pre-Romanesque church with a rectangular main hall, a squared apse, and a distinctive four-story circular Lombard bell tower. The stone structure sits in a mountain valley and displays the architectural characteristics typical of early medieval Pyrenean churches.

This church was built during the 8th and 9th centuries, making it the oldest surviving religious structure in the Andorran region. Later modifications during the 12th century altered the original design while reinforcing its role in the local community.

The church served as a gathering place where the community marked important moments in their lives through religious ceremonies. Its design reflects how people of that era understood sacred space and organized their spiritual gatherings.

The church is most accessible during warmer months when mountain routes are passable year-round without snow. Comfortable footwear is recommended since the site sits on elevated terrain reached by mountain paths.

The building was the center of an artistic flourishing where wall paintings by different artists decorated the interior spaces. Today visitors can see these historical artworks in their original positions through modern projection technology.
