Caral, Ancient city in Peru
Caral is a large settlement in the Supe Valley, near Supe, Barranca Province, Peru.
It was inhabited between roughly 2600 BCE and 2000 BCE, making it one of the oldest centers of civilization in the Western Hemisphere.
The inhabitants of Caral were a sophisticated society with advanced knowledge of architecture, agriculture, and music.
Today, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site that attracts thousands of tourists each year.
Caral is notable for its complex and monumental architecture, including six large pyramidal structures.
