Motiongate, Hollywood movie theme park in Dubai Parks and Resorts, United Arab Emirates
Motiongate is a Hollywood-inspired theme park in Dubai Parks and Resorts, with five zones: Studio Central, Columbia Pictures, DreamWorks, The Smurfs' Village and Lionsgate. Its rides are all licensed properties, including a Gerstlauer bobsled coaster themed to The Green Hornet and a trackless Hotel Transylvania dark ride.
Motiongate Dubai opened on December 16, 2016, after its original October 31, 2016 date was postponed due to construction delays. It is operated by Dubai Parks and Resorts. In March 2020 operations were suspended for COVID-19 measures, and the destination reopened on September 23, 2020. On January 21, 2022, the Lionsgate zone expanded with two new franchises, Now You See Me and John Wick, adding two rides.
The park recreates the feeling of being inside a real film studio through recreated New York streets in Studio Central. You can observe how the entertainment industry works and what goes into making the films and shows you watch.
The park opens daily from 11:00 AM, with extended hours on weekends. You can purchase tickets online in advance, which makes entry smoother and helps you avoid longer lines at the gate.
Two of the park's coasters, John Wick: Open Contract and Now You See Me: High Roller, were originally designed for the planned Six Flags Dubai project before being installed at Motiongate. The Lionsgate zone added both rides when it expanded on January 21, 2022.
