Bushtrica bridge

Bushtrica Bridge is a railway crossing over the Shkumbin River in Elbasan County. The structure spans roughly 255 meters and rises about 48 meters above the water, built with prestressed concrete.

Construction was completed in 1973 as part of the Rrogozhinë-Pogradec railway line, which expanded rail networks through central Albania. This project represented a major infrastructure investment for the region during that era.

The bridge represents a period of infrastructure development in Albania, connecting communities and facilitating trade between different regions of the country.

This crossing remains in active rail use and is regularly inspected for safety. To view or photograph the structure, approach from the river valley below or nearby roads while staying clear of the operating railway lines.

This is the highest railway bridge in Albania and showcases engineering achievement from the early 1970s. Its height and span demonstrate the advanced construction methods employed at that time.
