Laúca Dam

Laúca Dam is a hydroelectric power station built across the Kwanza River that generates electricity through a series of large turbines powered by flowing water. The reservoir created behind the structure stores water and allows continuous power generation throughout the year.

Construction began in 2012 and the first generating unit started operating in 2017. The project was part of Angola's effort to rebuild and modernize its energy system following the civil war.
